AMERICA’S LEADING SKEPTIC CHALLENGES
CALGARY’S POLITICAL CANDIDATES, THEIR BELIEFS AND HOW THEY MAKE DECISIONS.
Calgary, AB, September 14, 2010 – On Tuesday, September 22, Calgary’s Make it Good initiative hosts a political roundtable called My Vote Could Have Changed That. This discussion-based event is designed to understand how Calgary’s Mayoral candidates form their political beliefs, make decisions and maintain relevant leadership.
Why this event matters: In 2007, only 32.9 per cent of Calgarians voted in the Civic Election. In, 2010 Keith Brownsey, associate professor of political science at Mount Royal University estimates only 35 per cent of voters will head to the polls. Why is this? Are Calgarians skeptical about the Mayoral candidates? Do they trust candidates are able to think through tough problems or do Calgarians simply believe political decisions are based on getting re-elected versus what is best for the city?
